War Memorial Park is a space dedicated to honouring the memories of civilians who lost their lives during World War II. Located in the heart of the city, the park features the striking Civilian War Memorial, often referred to as “The Chopsticks” due to its four tall pillars symbolising the shared suffering of Singapore’s Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Eurasian communities.
Surrounded by lush greenery, the park provides a serene environment for reflection and remembrance, serving as a reminder of the resilience and unity that emerged from a dark chapter in the nation’s history.
